I
am originally from Roswell, New Mexico and now live in Las Cruces,
New Mexico. Son of Ben and Deb Coats I am the second oldest of
four children. I am a senior at New Mexico State University where
I also played Division I baseball for the Aggies. I originally
started going to school in Hobbs, New Mexico at College of the
Southwest. I also played baseball for CSW and was named an Honorable
Mention All-American in my last season with the Mustangs. Long
Drive is kind of a spin off of baseball in some ways. The only
thing I lived for while playing baseball was hitting home runs.
So, you can see hitting it far is in my blood.
The
funny thing is I have only done Long Drive for about six months
and already look like I have been doing it for years. Wining the
local qualifier in Las Cruces back in June got me in a good spot
for the District Championships held in Denver. I also won another
local that got me into the District 7 Championships if I had some
problems in Denver, but as expected I didnŐt. With drives of 425,
426, 432 and in the final round a drive of 428 got me to Mesquite.
Where I plan on making some noise. I take sports very seriously
and always prepare myself in everyway possible. I designed my
personal workout myself, you can compare it to football two-a-days.
No exceptions, I workout everyday in the gym and on the course.
I am in the gym for, no less than, three hours a day and I hit
over 300 balls a day.
When
I compete I will be the strongest and most prepared athlete long
drive has ever seen. So, everyone get ready for the Legend, because
I am here whether you like it or not.
